The Flatwater travelling road show
Flatwater North, in association with their territorial sport governing body Flatwater Paddling Yukon, are planning to offer their week long Canoe Kids summer program in some Yukon communities, as a travelling road show. These programs are run with community organizations that are interested in working with us to coordinate program registration.
If you are part of a community organization and would like to work with us to offer a program in your community, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Canoe Kids program would follow the same format as the Whitehorse Canoe Kids summer camps. Please set the Canoe Kids page for more information about the program.
Thanks To Canadian Tire's Jumpstart
Earlier this year Flatwater North attempted to run a community outreach program to help children in the surrounding Yukon communities learn how to safely and effectively canoe. Unfortunately, since many of the communities had trouble securing funding to run their own programs, they where unable to afford our program.
This April Canadian Tire's Jumpstart was able to provide an additional $15,000 to help us run the Community Canoe Kids program also known as the Travelling Roadshow. Thanks to this funding we where able to get in contact with many of the communities and run the programs.
With the pandemic many of the communities have missed out on activates outside the province due to the Yukon's tight restrictions. This has taken a tole on the surrounding communities. Having these interactions from outside of the community really means a lot to those who feel trapped. We are currently in the process of setting up a course with 5 of the surrounding communities.
This wouldn't have been possible without the help of Jumpstart.
Thank you Jumpstart!!!
