Dryland Strength Training
For athletes 10+ who want to train to improve their paddling skills and potentially compete in sprint canoe kayak. This training program builds participants mobility, strength, endurance, reactive, and movement training. Participants will be encouraged to work towards their own personal goal throughout the fall and winter. There are three sessions for dryland strength training throughout the fall and winter period while the water is not open:
Spring Session 3: March 2021 to May 2021 Option 1 - Sprint Team - For ages 14 yrs old and up March 17 to May 14, 2021 Wednesdays 3:45-4:45pm Fridays 4:45-5:45pm Northern Strength Academy, located at 204 Strickland, will be leading sessions from Sept 28th - until the end of April. You will be able to register for either day or both days. Please register prior to March 12th so that we can confirm our numbers with NSA. Maximum of 9 athletes can participate. Cost: $400 (or $200 for 1 session/week) Option 2 - Regatta Ready - For ages 10 yrs old and up March 30 to May 14, 2021 Mondays 3:45-4:45pm Thursdays 3:45-4:45pm Gavin Freeborn, Flatwater North's head coach, will be leading sessions at Whitehorse Elementary School from 3:45 - 4:45 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. Sessions will be held in the downstairs Activity Room (bottom left corner of the school). You will be able to register for either day or both days. The one day rate is half price. Sessions will start January 5th and end March 11th. Please register prior to March 22nd so that we can plan accordingly. Maximum 9 athletes can participate. Cost: $200 (or $100 for 1 session/week) |
