We are very happy to announce that we will be running our 2021 summer programs! There was overwhelming support from the community to run our programs and we thank you for that.
We are working within the Covid19 guidelines put out by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) to develop our plan and ensure it meets all safety recommendations. We are modifying our programs to ensure they can take place safely. Our Covid return to play protocols and summer camp plan is attached for your review. This plan has been accepted by the YG Environmental Health Office and to our National Sport Organization, Canoe and Kayak Canada. The following includes a summary of important information about how we will be running our summer programming. All completed registrations will be maintained; however, full refunds are available for anyone that would like to cancel their registration.
Camp hours – Camp hours will be reduced due to cleaning and operating procedures required under our plan.
Canoe Kids programs will run: 9:30am to 3:00pm
Regatta Ready programs will run: 9:00am to 2:30pm
Reduced camp numbers – The number of participants will be reduced for all programs, and participants will be organized into separate groups of maximum 9 participants per coach. There will be 2 Canoe Kids groups and 2 Regatta Ready groups. This is required to limit the interaction between participants.
Minimum age – After careful consideration, we will not be increasing the minimum age of participants; however, the expectation is that all participants are able to follow instructions provided by the coaches about physical distancing and other camp rules. If participants can not follow these rules, they will be sent home and their registration fees will not be returned.
Risk of cancellation – Flatwater North will follow all recommendations and guidelines of the CMOH. As they state, there is a risk of reinstating public health measures that would require us to cancel our summer programming without notice. Flatwater North reserves the right to cancel or change programming due to the evaluation of the public health emergency. In the event that summer programming is cancelled we will provide a full refund for all affected registrations.
Waivers – Our waiver has changed due to the additional pandemic concerns, and all participants will be required to sign the new waiver. This waiver acknowledges that participants are aware of the risk of virus transmission and waive liability from Flatwater North. Please know that Flatwater North will do our best to ensure all safety procedures from the CMOH and our approved return to play plan are followed.
Travel – The Regatta Ready and Sprint team programming will not include any travel outside of Whitehorse this summer. All external regattas have been cancelled. Local events are to be determined.
