Session 1: June 14 - July 9
Session 2: July 12 - July 30
Session 3: August 2 - August 20
Participants in the Regatta Read Program are usually invited to travel to and participate in a sprint canoe kayak regatta outside the territory; however, we are uncertain about travel possibilities for summer 2021 due to the covid pandemic.
* All sessions are invited to attend the Yukon Championship Regatta, Whitehorse, Saturday July 31, 2021 (to be confirmed)
For all sessions attendance is flexible. Have a camping trip planned? No problem. Take few days off and you can pick up where you left off.
Throughout the training camp the athletes will progress through and beyond the basic skills of sprint paddling and learn competitive paddling skills and the rules for sprint canoe kayak. Paddlers will learn about water safety rules for sprint boats, how to balance, paddle, and train in sprint kayaks and canoes. Participants will be led through training both on and off the water. During each session they will do a warm up, practice/work out and cool down.
This program will set paddlers up with all the necessary skills to paddle sprint canoes and kayaks competitively in both singles and crew boats. The goal is to teach excellent training habits and a love for being outdoors and on the water.
To reinforce safe paddling skills, all participants are required to wear life-jackets or PFDs any time they are on the water or the dock.
Cost: Full summer (includes all 3 sessions) $1200
Each 3 week session $600
Participants must sign up for membership before signing up for programs.
